WELCOME !
2, High Street Home to The Grantown Hub
Retail, Information and Pop-up shop area.
Feature wall with old map of Grantown and vicinity
Many of you will be familiar with 2, High Street in Grantown, which has lain empty for the past seven years. Formerly the SSE and Clydesdale electrical showroom , the large shop window displayed TVs, fridges and freezers.
The Grantown Society which celebrates it’s 50th anniversary in 2024 has been looking for a permanent home for several years. Working with the Scottish Land Fund, we thought the location would be ideal for a local hub providing services for the community and a home for the Society.
We received the keys in April and on the 5 August 2024 opened our doors to the community.
The needs of Grantown and the vicinity were strongly reinforced in a survey (2023).
In respect of community ownership of 2 High Street, these needs inspired three objectives.
Attract more people into Grantown’s High Street and support its regeneration, including provision of pop-up retail space and the availability of an ATM cash machine.
Provide modern co-working and meeting room space which will have high-speed broadband connectivity and excellent facilities, supporting Grantown to be an attractive place to visit, work and live.
Create a warm and welcoming space where people can drop in to learn more about what is happening in the local area and about Grantown’s history and heritage; the people and the place.
What CAN WE OFFER YOU?
The Hub is still a work in progress. We have been very busy renovating the former showroom installing new lighting and heating , yet retaining some of the original shop decor and colour scheme. Above all we are offering a flexible space which can easily be converted to hold pop-up shops, meetings, classes, computer co-working area and exhibitions.

What's On Grantown is one central location for all that's happening in our community for locals and visitors. In the Hub we have a pin board display area for posting events, accommodation, jobs etc. If you wish to spread the word , then pop in or drop off a poster. There's also a Facebook page called 'What's On Grantown' that posts and shares social media posts promoting events in the town and local area.

By creating a flexible space there is a perfect opportunity for new or established businesses to hold pop-up events of their products. These could be for a day or subject to availability over several days. There is also the advantage of a High St presence, large display window and an ATM for cash withdrawals.

Installing a fast broadband internet connection was a priority from the start. Working with Transmitair, we are able to provide internet connectivity by Wi-Fi. Our co-working lounge offers an ideal environment to pop in and catch up with emails and work. We also have a printer and photocopier available.

We have a small retail area available to rent shelf space on a monthly basis. This is ideal for the small business owner or author who wishes to promote their merchandise and test the water for demand.

Celebrating our 50th birthday, over the years The Society has collected a lot of unique records, photographs, maps etc, telling the story of Grantown, the people and the place. Now we are able to store this in one location, accessible to the public. Over time we hope to digitise the collection to make it more widely available. We are always looking for more documents which we can photograph and return the originals to you. So please pop in if you have something you think might interest us.
